Sablefish Education

Save the date to celebrate sustainable sablefish! At 2:30 p.m. Thursday, June 5*, Jim Marketti and Maria McCarthy of ODFW will come to the co-op to teach us about this local fish, how it’s caught to minimize bycatch and how to cook it. Plus, get free samples! Local fisherman Rob Seitz also plans to make a guest appearance.
Right now, most sablefish caught here is shipped out overseas. Learning about it is one step toward creating a bigger local market for it, keeping more local fish available here in our coastal stores and restaurants. So let’s give it a try!
