OSU Extension in Clatsop County to hold ReGrow It! at the Astoria Co-op
March 20 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Join Master Gardener Aza Cody for a lively fact filled presentation: ReGrow It!: Propagating grocery fruit and vegetables from seed, stem and root.
An hour demonstration of novel ideas to reduce waste and extend food dollars. Easy hacks that can be set up on counters, windowsills, and back porches. Highly adaptive techniques, with workarounds for space and ability limitations, all designed to encourage innovation and wonder. As Ms. Cody says, “even a tiny kitchen can be a garden.”
Fun experiments in the mystery and delight of botany that inspire appreciation for real food. Watching vegetables regrow instills respect for plants as living beings.
America wastes over 133 billion pounds of food each year, while one in seven households struggle with food insecurity. In addition, discarding non compostable, toxic packaging clogs city streets and rural waterways. Two million tons of plastic trash ends up in our oceans. Every year. Reducing the volume of disposed material in Earth friendly ways helps us realize how much we toss out without thinking. All packaging is single use – until we find a repurpose for it. ReGrow It! offers clever ideas on using food containers as seedling and regrow pots.
